Keyboard shortcuts

Move around, write and organize without reaching for the mouse.

Press ? (or Shift+/) anywhere outside the editor to see every shortcut. On a Mac, use ⌘ where you see Ctrl.

General

  • Ctrl+K — command palette (create scenes, switch views, export…)
  • Ctrl+P — go to a document, character or place
  • Ctrl+Shift+F — search the whole project
  • Ctrl+S — save now
  • Ctrl+Shift+B — show or hide the binder
  • Ctrl+Shift+I — show or hide the inspector
  • Ctrl+Shift+D — focus mode (Esc to leave)
  • Ctrl+\ — split editor
  • Alt+N — new scene (⌘⌥N on Mac)

Writing

  • Ctrl+B / Ctrl+I / Ctrl+U — bold, italic, underline
  • Ctrl+Shift+H — highlight
  • Ctrl+Shift+Enter — insert a scene break
  • Alt+M — add a comment (⌘⌥M on Mac)
  • Ctrl+F / Ctrl+H — find, find and replace
  • Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z — undo, redo
  • Type [[ to link to a character, place or story bible entry

Binder

  • ↑ / ↓ move, ← / → expand or collapse, Enter opens, F2 renames
  • Alt + ↑ / ↓ moves the item, Delete moves it to the Trash
Shortcuts use the physical key position, so they keep working with an Arabic keyboard layout.
