1. What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash).
  • Your content: projects, manuscripts, notes, characters, comments and files you create or upload, stored so you can access them.
  • Usage data: basic information such as sign-in times, storage used, word counts and which features are used. This never includes the text of your writing.
  • Billing details: if you subscribe, payments are processed by our payment provider (Paddle), which acts as the merchant of record. We never see or store your full card number or security code — only a summary such as the card type and last four digits.
  • Support messages: what you send us when you ask for help or give feedback.

2. How we use it

We use your data to run Inktoria, keep your account secure, provide support and improve the service. Staff tools show account information and totals only — never your manuscripts. Your writing is never used to advertise to you.

3. Shared projects

If you invite collaborators to a project, they can see that project according to the role you give them (reader, commenter or editor). You can change their role or remove them at any time. Nobody else can open your projects.

4. Writing kept on your device

To protect your work if you lose your connection, a copy of documents you are editing is kept in your browser on that device until it has been saved to our servers. Signing out does not delete these copies from a shared computer, so use a private browsing window on computers you don't trust.

5. Sharing with others

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers needed to run the site (such as hosting, email and payment processing), or when required by law.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember your language and theme. We do not use advertising cookies.

7. Your choices

You can update your profile, download a full backup of any project, export your writing and delete your account from your settings.
