Start writing in two minutes

From sign-up to your first saved words: the quickest path, and what the getting-started guide shows you.

Updated Oct 11, 2026

The quickest path

  1. On Projects, choose Start writing now. You get a blank book with Chapter 1, Scene 1 open.
  2. Click into the page and type. There is no save button — your words are saved as you write.
  3. Rename the book any time from Project settings.

Watch it save

The status next to the toolbar shows Saving…, then Saved. If your connection drops it shows Offline: keep writing, your words are kept on this device and sent as soon as you're back online.

The getting-started guide

Your Projects page shows a short checklist grouped as Write, Organise and Revise with confidence. Steps tick themselves when you do them — create a project, write your first words, add a chapter, add a character or note, save a snapshot and export.

You can Hide guide at any time and bring it back from Settings → Getting started & privacy.

Tip: small tips appear the first time you open the binder, History, the corkboard and Compile. Choose Got it to dismiss each one.
