“This scene was changed elsewhere”

What the conflict screen means and how to choose between keeping this version, the other one, or both.

Updated Oct 11, 2026

You see this screen when a scene was saved somewhere else — another tab, another device, or a collaborator — while you were editing it here. Inktoria never overwrites either version silently.

Compare

The two versions are shown side by side: Other version (saved elsewhere) and This device (your edits). Differences are highlighted.

Choose

  • Keep this version — your edits stay; the other version is saved in History.
  • Keep the other version — the other text is shown; your edits are saved in History.
  • Keep both — your edits stay in this scene and the other version is saved as a new scene right after it, called (other version).

Whatever you choose, nothing is lost: you can always find the version you didn't keep in History.

Avoiding conflicts

Work on one scene in one place at a time. If you write offline on two devices, expect to choose when both come back online.
